Sorry for the radio silence on my end since the conclusion of Chapter 14. Here’s what’s been going on.

  • Hired a colorist for the next chapter to help me out and let me get ahead some. Colorist hurt arm after doing the Chapter 15 cover and has been out of commission for a bit.
  • Had to get the Adrastus site moved from our old server to the new one. This required a long process of backing everything up and transferring everything over, in which time I wasn’t comfortable posting anything new to the site for fear of messing up the entire process. We’re now on the new server, so if anything is broken or missing please let me know!
  • Ever since “Hard Drive Meltdown 2K14”, my Yiynova tablet has been acting like a bratty child. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers about 10 times, and made certain that I had the most up-to-date driver the website has. I’ll be working and lose my pressure sensitivity every 30-60 minutes, forcing me to either restart Manga Studio or completely restart the computer. Today it has decided that when I’m using it, it will randomly switch to the vector eraser tool in Manga Studio. It doesn’t matter what tool I have selected, it vector erases until such a time that it has decided to switch back to whatever tool I actually want to use. I’m completely at my wit’s end with it. I cannot get anything done with this functioning the way it is. I can’t do sketching, I can’t do inks. I was going to start looking for more freelance work this month but I can’t do that without a tablet that is going to work properly for more than 15 minutes.
  • Went to GenCon. It was a fantastic time, despite several disasters. (Was just attending, not vending, so I spent a lot of my time at Seminars)
  • Went to Intervention (the weekend right after GenCon), fourth year total and first time as a guest. Had an amazing time at this amazing convention and already looking forward to next year. Great big apologies though for the problems that happened during my Manga Studio 5 panel- I was having issues with the way my Surface was interacting with the projector, AND I was still on painkillers and muscle relaxers both so I was loopy on top of the tech issues and had no one to back me up.
  • Have had to cancel Ashville Comic Expo because of financial issues.

I guess the long and short of it is this: I have no idea when more pages will be done. Between my tablet issues and my colorist’s injury (plus all the things that he has on his plate on top of agreeing to help with coloring) I’m far, FAR behind where I wanted to be with this chapter already. I can sketch on my Surface Pro but I despise inking on it so it’s not an option for that step.

Basically I’m trying to make the best of a bad situation that’s just the height of all frustration. But anyway, if anyone cares, that is what is going on and why there hasn’t been any new pages or blog posts lately. I wish I could give a projected date for Chapter 15 but I just have no idea at this point, at all. I’d love to be able to just haul off and buy a new tablet but, yeah, not an option unless I find a bank to rob so I have to work with what I have.
