The Kickstarter did not fund. It got to almost $2,000 before the end, which is pretty good for my first attempt ever at running a Kickstarter. But it was only 2/3rds of the way to the goal for Book Three.

Right now I still have plans to make Book Three happen. But as I see it, I have two options.

Option One: take what I learned from this first Kickstarter and run another one, with a modified goal amount.

Option Two: Go back to my old stand-by of opening for pre-orders and then just buying however many books I can with the amount I get in for pre-orders. I’d put listings for all the books and a combo pack up in the Storenvy shop and everyone can just pre-pay for about a month, then I’d order books and send them out when I get them. The big difference between this and the Kickstarter is that I’d get the money immediately. There wouldn’t be a big goal we’d be fighting against, don’t know if that’s a pro or a con.

At this point I don’t know if I want to run another Kickstarter. It was 30 days of Extrovertedness that has left me feeling extremely tired. All I really want to do this week is go to sleep and not move- or at least I’m pretty unmotivated to draw. Yesterday I did get a lot of buttons done, but I couldn’t bring myself to open Manga Studio.

If anyone has any pros/cons or other input on Kickstarter -vs- Preorders, please chime in at the comments. I’d like to hear what you all think, because I’m looking at this as someone who is introverted and spent the few days before the Kickstarter ended moping and crying (PMDD SUCKS). Doing pre-orders in the past has always been pretty good, and this time I would open pre-orders for all three books at the same time, since I’m pretty much out of Books One and Two. So you could order what you need/want (Just book one, books one and two, all three books, just book three) instead of being stuck to reward tiers. I dunno. Pre-orders have worked for me in the past so I’m pretty attached to that idea.

Speaking of books, I do have 2 of Book One and 5 of Book Two still available, and they are up in the Storenvy shop. Also I have FINALLY made the book PDFs available for purchase online. Before the only Adrastus PDFs were the web-quality pages, no extra content. If you follow this link though, the first two products in my Gumroad are PDFs of the books, with all the bonus content, in high quality. They’re being made available as pay-what-you-want (minimum $0.99) downloads, so you can pay as little as $0.99 for them or as much as you feel they’re worth.

So that’s what I’m thinking about. If any of the readers have input, please feel free to chip it in on the comments below. I’d like to hear what you all think!
