What’s your normal morning routine?

Drawing this sequence with Michael at his place of employment has gotten me thinking a lot about work and routine, I guess. I used to have a routine. Get out of bed with the alarm, usually at about 4-5 a.m., go for a run or a walk or do an exercise video, have breakfast, then go right to the computer and work on some art. The past six months or so have been a complete wreck for my routine though. I don’t know if it was the harsh winter or if it’s something with my medication, or a combination of both, but I have such trouble getting out of bed in the morning now. The alarm goes off (later and later now) and I lay there for an hour, trying to fight going back to sleep. When I do get out of bed, I don’t go exercise because it’s too cold out- or lately because my back is injured and I can’t run in this condition. Then when I get to the computer I just sort of stare at it for awhile.

Today is the first day in a long time that I set my alarm early and actually got out of bed when it went off. It’s cold, raining, and miserable, but I’m up and my back is starting to feel good enough that I can actually sit upright and get some work done. But I miss my old morning routine, and I’m wondering if I can ever get back in to it. I felt so good when I was getting my mornings off to a good, strong start. Now when I get up I just want to go back to sleep for another few hours. (Yes, I am planning on going and talking to a doctor, since there are medications involved here, I just need my health insurance to kick in, which happens in a few days)
